Pakistan Minister has been subjected to immense banters after he had proposed a match between Talibans and millitants. He has put forward that the Taliban can replace the guns with the cricket bats and that may recover the peace by hosting a match against the millitants.
Pakistan government encountered a formal meeting with Talibans earlier of this month. But the meeting went in vain when 23 kidnapped soldiers were killed by the millitants. They took the revenge of a series of air strikes that happened in tribal areas that border Afghanistan and are home to the Taliban’s top leadership, killed dozens.
“I have information that the Taliban keep an interest in cricket. So if this message can go through to them, we can have a cricket match with them which can have a better result,”Pak interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told reporters in Islamabad this monday following an exposition game. According to him cricket could create the bridge of peace between Talibans and millitants, it could offer hope. “The Taliban follow the Pakistan cricket team with keen interest so this can be a platform.” he added.
Country’s english speaking elites and youth are giving hallelujah negetive reaction with respect to the cricket match proposal. One twitter user named @MidhatZ, said: “Cricket on a red pitch and may be they could bowl with our soldiers heads?” Another user @kursed called the minster as ‘bloody lunatic’ and wrote “he should invite the families of those beheaded by the Taliban to the match.”
Cricket has always been the most favourite pastime for the countrymen. Even sometimes it is called their ‘second religion’ after Islam. Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif Is a huge fan of cricket. Pakistan’s former cricketer Imran Khan leads Pakistan’s third largest political party.
Hence, time will tell what will be the consequnces of this match and how this proposal will imprint upon the Cricket team and politics of that country.
