Tamil Nadu have brought in all-rounder R Rohit to replace Vijay Shankar in the Tamil Nadu side, who has been called to the Indian team for the second Test against Sri Lanka. Rohit is yet to make his first-class debut and has played just one List A game. In another change, Tamil Nadu selectors have also called back DT Chandrasekar back in the Ranji Trophy side after two years.

Tamil Nadu will continue to miss the services of star batsman Dinesh Karthik, who is currently at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. He missed the last game against Madhya Pradesh due to a stiff hip. He was expected to the team for Tamil Nadu’s final league stage game against Baroda, but he is still undergoing rehabilitation camp for the same.
Karthik will be making his comeback to the national side for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka, and in fact, he will also be part of playing XI in the ODI series as well. Keeping his international commitments in mind, Karthik would also look to be fit for the upcoming fixtures.

Also, it is to be noted that BCCI has barred limited over regular players from playing Ranji Trophy, to keep them fit for the upcoming international assignments. However, as reported, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal are also in contention of making it to the Test side for South Africa series, and by giving them rest, BCCI is keeping them fit for the upcoming busy international calendar.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) would be asking for the release of Rohit Sharma for their last Ranji Trophy tie against Tripura if he is not included in the playing XI, and the chances of his release are quite bright.
Tamil Nadu will face Baroda in last league stage round of Ranji Trophy at Reliance Stadium in Vadodara with a hope of making it to the next round as even a win here will not guarantee them a place in the next round. A full six points from this game will keep them in contention for next round.
