Opener Tamim Iqbal created history by becoming the leading run scorer for Bangladesh in Test cricket. He surpassed Habibul Bashar, the former Test skipper of Bangladesh to achieve this feat. Tamim has now scored 3039 runs in 20 Test matches overtaking Bashar’s tally of 3026 runs in 50 Tests.

Tamim made his Test debut against New Zealand in Dunedin and made Half centuries in both the innings. He scored his debut Test century against West Indies at Kingstown and helped Bangladesh to win their first Test match in overseas. One of the most cherishing moment in Tamim’s career was scoring a century at Lord’s and with that he became the first Bangladeshi player to feature in Lord’s honours board.

Tamim has played 40 Test matches for Bangladesh and has scored 3039 runs at an impressive average of 39.47. He has also scored 7 centuries and 17 half centuries to his name. Tamim Iqbal recently brought up his highest Test score against Pakistan by smashing a Double hundred (206) but unfortunately the Test match ended in a draw.

 

 

 

In the third over, Tamim clipped Ishant Sharma towards fine leg for two off the eighth ball he faced to reach the milestone. However, his innings came to an end after scoring 19 runs from 21 balls. Tamim was out stumped by Saha bowled by Ashwin.

After Rain played spoil sport in day 3 of the Test match India declared overnight with the first innings score of 462/6. Bangladesh responded with 111/3 with Ashwin taking two wickets and Harbhajan picking up one wicket with rain winning again in day 4.
