Tatenda Taibu, one of the best wicketkeeper batsman in Zimbabwe is set to make a comeback in cricket once again. He signed for Liverpool and District Team Hightown St. Mary’s. The youngest test skipper hanged his boots at the age of 29. Taibu started to work in Church. He played 150 ODIs and 28 Test for Zimbabwe.
Hightown publicity officer Nick Gordon wasn’t certain about the affair as he said,”When he explained who he was I thought it was a hoax, the conversation developed, we got references from people in the game in Zimbabwe and we’ve talked ever since. It’s a real coup for us.”
Tatenda Taibu reacted to an advertisement by the club for an overseas player for this season. Nick Gordon can’t hide his excitement to get Tatenda onboard as he told BBC Radio Merseyside, “It’s not every day that a club like Hightown St Mary’s signs a player like Tatenda. I had to do a double-take, it was so unusual. We put out an advert for young players but he said ‘I’m not a young player, I’m a retired Test cricketer. This guy has played at an incredibly high standard of cricket and we are happy to take the risk.
