Team India touring Australia later this year to play bilateral series will be allowed to organize training sessions. The whole squad will not practice together but in groups to curb the spread of the infectious virus.

Michael Cusack, South Australia’s deputy chief public health officer, informed that the visitors will train in a small bubble which will have a group of three or four players. The same consistent players will practice together ahead of the series.

“They will be allowed to train in what you might consider smaller bubbles. So, there might be three or four players that would be allowed to train during their quarantine period, and it would be the same consistent players,” Michael Cusack, SA deputy chief public health officer, was quoted as saying on the ABC website.

“If you had the whole party training together and one person inadvertently tested positive all of them would become a close contact (and) everyone would need a further 14 days of isolation and quarantine,” the officer explained.

Team India will not land in Perth

As per Cricket Australia’s (CA) initial plans, the Australian team, which is currently touring England, and the Indian players were expected to enter the country via Perth after playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

But the Western Australia government has denied any relaxation in the quarantine period. So, now they will be quarantined at the brand-new Adelaide Oval Hotel which is almost ready and set to open on September 25.

Also, the Adelaide Oval will host the Boxing Day Test against India later this year in case the iconic MCG is not available because of rising coronavirus cases in the state of Victoria.

Team India will name their team in October and are expected to travel with an extended squad. The much-anticipated tour is likely to start with limited-overs matches (T20 series) before the action shifts to the four-Test series.
