The members of Indian cricket team will be undergoing a training camp before they fly to South Africa next month after completion of ongoing series against Sri Lanka. Amitabh Chaudhary confirmed the news.
“There will be a camp ahead of the South Africa tour. There’s a little time I understand that but we will see what best can be done,” he said.

However, the idea of BCCI to organise a camp looks quite difficult to execute as the ongoing series between India, and Sri Lanka is set to end on December 24. The Indian team set to fly to South Africa just four days later, there will hardly be any time for the players to take rest.
The statement of the BCCI official can also be taken in a sense that there can be a case when the key players, who are a confirmed selection for the tour, would be given rest for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka, to manage the workload.

The workload term is a new one in Indian cricket, which has come into existence since Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the Head Coach of Indian cricket team. Players like Mohamed Shami, Umesh Yadav, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are no longer part of the India ODI set up as they were dropped from the side to give the rest and to manage the workload.
Also, Indian skipper Virat Kohli himself had said that he would ask for rest whenever needed, somehow confirming that we could see a new captain and a young team for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka.
The India tour of South Africa starts on January 5, with the first Test match to be played at Newlands in Cape Town. Centurion and Johannesburg will hot the second and third Test respectively.
Following the multi-days games, both the teams will face off each other in a lengthy ODI series comprising of six games followed by three T20I, with the last one coming on February 24. Before the start of the international fixtures, team India will play a two-day practice game from December 30-31.
Soon after returning from South Africa, the players would fly to Sri Lanka for a T20I tri-series followed by the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) which will follow the tour of England, which will commence in July.
