Ted Hussey, father of Australian cricketers Mike Hussey and David Hussey passed away yesterday at the age of 73. He was a member of the of the WACA , serving as as an administrator of the Western Australian District Cricket Competition and of the Wanneroo District Cricket Club. He was also a former board member of the WACA.
Though both David and Mike were born in Western Australia, Mike played his cricket for Western Australia and David played most of his cricket for Victoria.
WACA CEO Christina Matthews said that Ted will surely be missed because of the character he was. Relating him personally, Christina said that it was Ted who helped him to know about the history of the district cricket when he first came into WACA. This helped him to know about the challenges faced by the District cricket.
Ted also had 2 daughters Gemma and Kate, and wife helen, who all are still alive.
Note, both sides will wear black armbands out of respect for Ted Hussey. Condolences to his family #MatadorCup
