The Indian shot-putter, Tejinder Pal Singh Toor bagged the first gold medal in Asian Games that are going on in Jakarta, Indonesia. While bagging Gold, he set a perfect start to atheletic campaign of India.
However, like other average Indian youngsters, Tejinder Pal Singh wished to pursue in the field of cricket as a boy.
Tejinder Singh was an ardent fan of cricket
Although, he was an ardent fan of cricket the father of Tejinder insisted him to take the shot put. luckily for him, the sport yielded a better result for him. After winning scores of medals in Federation Cup, inter-state competitions and open national meets, he is ranked as number one in Asia.
Singh received the shot put genes from his uncle as it is not some new entry to his family. Tejinder belongs to a modest economic family status; it was difficult for Tejinder to establish himself as a professional shot-putter.
“The thing about shot put is, as you go up the levels, your expenses also gradually rise. You need better food supplements; you need to go to a better gym, need better shoes,” Sportskeeda quoted him as saying.
Tejinder finished the final set in the men’s shot put by holding a record of 20.75 in his fifth attempt. Singh overtook the figure of 20.69m that was firm by the six-year-old national career in the name of Om Prakash Karhana.
He followed the golden rule that “nothing is impossible to a willing heart.” He not only supported it but gave a practical shape as well. He grabbed the headlines when he bags the silver award in Asian Championship award in 2017.
After came to know that his father has the cancer, his coach took him away from his family to focus on his career.
