Indian captain Virat Kohli and Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane dominated the day two of the Pune Test against South Africa before Ravindra Jadeja joined them. Three years ago, South African cricketer Temba Bavuma wished to see this dominant batting from Kohli-Rahane. Unfortunately, he recently experienced the same as an opponent cricketer.
After the dominating cricket in Visakhapatnam Test, India have once again started the Pune Test in the same dominating fashion. The no.1-ranked Test team India won the Visakhapatnam Test of this series against South Africa by 203 runs.
In the ongoing Pune Test, India once again won the toss and decided to bat first. At the stumps of day one of this Test match, India were batting on 273/3. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane already started their innings on that day as they had the 75 runs partnership for the unbroken fourth wicket.
On day two of Pune Test, Kohli-Rahane continued their domination. That fourth-wicket partnership stretched to the entire morning session of day two. In that session, they added 83 more runs for that wicket. Ajinkya Rahane finally lost his wicket in the early second session of the day after scoring 59 runs off 168 balls.
Before that wicket, Kohli-Rahane put the whopping 178 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. This crucial partnership helped the hosts to set up a large first-innings total of this game.
Temba Bavuma could watch Virat Kohli-Ajinkya Rahane batting all the day
During that partnership, the twitteraties found out a three years old tweet from Temba Bavuma, who is playing this Test. On 8th October 2016, Bavuma claimed that he could enjoy the batting of Kohli and Rahane for all the day. Ironically, he was experiencing almost the same thing in the first innings of the Pune Test but unfortunately as an opponent team member.

When Bavuma tweeted that feeling, India were busy to play against New Zealand at Indore. In the first innings of that game, Kohli-Rahane started their fourth-wicket partnership from 100/3 and stretched that to the total of 465 runs as they put the huge 365 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. While captain Kohli scored 211 runs in that innings, Rahane managed to score 188 runs.
Coming to the present Pune Test, Virat Kohli totally dominated the day two of this Test match. After Kohli-Rahane’s 178 runs partnership for the fourth wicket, Kohli provided another giant 225 runs partnership for the fifth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja. The Indian captain scored 254 not out in the first innings. Meanwhile, unlucky Jadeja lost his wicket on 91 runs. India finally declared that innings on 601/5.
