Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar has expressed his delight over earning his maiden call-up from Team India. He has been picked in the Test team as well as the ODI team. India are scheduled to play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is against West Indies.
The right-arm pacer, who recently plied his trade for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, is known for his ability to bowl long spells and extract movement off the pitch. Over the years, Mukesh Kumar has troubled batsmen in domestic cricket with his line and length and will be hoping to do the same for Team India.
In recent years, he has also become a regular player in the India A team and a Test call-up did not surprise many. Talking about his record in first-class cricket, he has picked up 149 wickets in 39 games at an average of 21.55. In the last four years, he has played a key role in helping Bengal making it to the Ranji final on two occasions. His record for India is also impressive, 18 wickets at an average 17.50 including a couple of 5-wicket hauls.

“Kehte hai na agar aap Test nahin khele toh kya khele… (Like they say, what have you done if you didn’t play Tests),” the Bengal pacer told PTI.
“My dream is now in front of me. I always wanted to be here — to play Tests for India. And, I’ve finally arrived,” Kumar further added.
