After Being Named Test Player of the Decade, Steve Smith Rearing For Next Decade

Australia’s batting mainstay Steve Smith is grateful to be adjudged with ICC’s Test Player for the Decade honours. He has thanked everyone, who has supported him throughout his cricket journey.
Steve Smith is also named in the ICC’s Test team of the Decade which is led by Virat Kohli. Steve Smith, during the period, scored 7040 runs from 69 Tests at an average of 65.79 which included 26 hundreds, 28 fifties and 3 Ashes double centuries.
The highlight of his career is the comeback of him after the sandpaper gate scandal in 2018 which led to his ban from the game for one year. He bounced back stronger to come out as the highest scorer in Ashes, helping his team to retain the trophy.
Smith piled up 774 in 7 Test innings, singlehandedly scoring 35.5% of Australia’s runs in the 5-match series despite having missed 1 Test due to a concussion.

Taking to Twitter, Steve Smith shared the joy for the prestigious title. He added that he is rearing to take up the challenges which the next decade has to offer him.
“Humbled to be named Test player of the decade. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career so far.
“I’ve had a lot of fun, faced many challenges, learnt so much and now I can’t wait to see what the next decade has in store for me,” Smith tweeted.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing Test series against India, Steve Smith has not been in his best form, scoring 1, 1*, 0 and 8 in four innings in second Test matches. He will want to redeem in the third Test in Sydney which is scheduled to begin on January 7.
