In 2003-2004 famous India’s tour of Australia, India took the lead in the series following the Adelaide Test victory . The first Test of the series at Brisbane was drawn. The Adelaide Oval   used to support the spinners and has subcontinent flavour. So India under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly produced a gallant display.

Australia batting first  scored 556 with Ricky Ponting scored 242. India commencing their batting  gave a fitting reply  as batsman Rahul Dravid  scored 233  which was comprised of  23 boundaries and one six.

This was Dravid’s third double hundred in his career. With Dravid and VVS Laxman scored 148.

Dravid’s innings won the heart of many fans as the innings brought  India in a commendable position. India  all out for 523.

Australia in the second innings found Ajit Agarkar unplayable. The Mumbai bowler took six wickets that helped India to quashed Australia for 196.

India in the fourth innings had to chase down only 233. Small contributions from batsmen -Dravid scored 72 ,  Virender Sehwag 47, Sachin Tendulkar 37 and VVS Laxman 32- helped India to notch up a four wickets victory.
