Sachin Tendulkar 241* against Australia at Sydney in 2004
In the same 2003-2004 Test series Sachin Tendulkar had been going through a lean patch. He was targeted by Australian bowlers so he was trapped on the off side throughout the series. In fourth and final Test Tendulkar decided to skip playing a shot on the off side, and he did it with a great determination.
The final Test was dominated by batsmen of both sides.
India batting first scored massive 705, the highest total in the history of Indian Test cricket.
The opening pair Akash Chopra and Virender Sehwag built a 123 run partnership before Brett Lee uprooted the stump of Akash Chopra who scored 45 while Sehwag scored 72.
It was the day of Sachin. He frustrated Australian bowlers as he didn’t give them a single opportunity to take his wicket.
Sachin played 33 boundaries on the way to is career best 241 not out. He once again forced Australia’s great bowler comprised of McacGill, Jason Gillespie, and Brett Lee.
Alongside Sachin, there was another batsman who paid well in this series. VVS Laxman scored 178 before Gillespie broke his defence.
Australia in reply scored 474 with the help of Justin Langer and Simon Katich who scored hundred respectively.
India called Australia to follow on and they scored 357 on the fifth day. The match was drawn and so did the series.
