Jonny Bairstow came up with a brilliant gesture for Rishabh Pant after the latter’s starring role with the bat during the third and final ODI between India and England on Sunday (July 17).

Pant came up with a stunning knock to help India thrash England by five wickets in the series-decider. The southpaw scored his maiden ODI ton as India recovered from 78 for 4 to chase down 260 and claim a 2-1 series win.

India were in all sorts of trouble when the wicketkeeper-batsman came out to bat. Both Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were back in the hut with just 21 runs on the board. 17 runs later, Virat Kohli departed too and Suryakumar Yadav could not do much either.

Pant, however, stood firm at one end and found an able partner in Hardik Pandya. The duo revived the chase for the tourists and laid the platform for a memorable win by stitching a 133-run stand.

The stand came to an end when Pandya departed for 71. Pant, however, remained till the end and finished on 125. His knock came off 113 balls and contained 16 fours and couple of sixes.

After the match ended, the England players made sure to congratulate Rishabh Pant for his knock. Jonny Bairstow, however, did something special for Pant.

While most of his teammates were content with a simple handshake, Bairstow embraced the India youngster. The England batting star gave Pant a bear hug and was seen saying something to him before both the players went their respective ways.

Recently, Bairstow grabbed all the limelight for his stunning centuries against India in the rescheduled Test. The right-handed batsman had hit tons in both the innings of the game to help England win the match.
