England’s bold declaration on day 1 of the ongoing first Test Ashes Test has surprised the cricketing world including actor Mahesh Babu.

While high-flying England were expected to carry their aggressive approach and spring a few surprises against Australia, not many had expected that they would declare their innings on the very first day of a Test match. England batted for only 78 overs before their skipper Ben Stokes decided that there were enough runs on the board.

He did not even wait for England to pass the 400-run mark with Joe Root unbeaten on 118. England were on 393 for 8 when their skipper decided to declare the innings as he was perhaps more interested in a pre-stumps breakthrough. Australia openers, however, dashed his hopes and saw off the 4 overs to help their team finish the day on 14 for no loss.
