The official broadcaster of the India’s West Indies tour Ten Sports has announced a six-member commentary team.
The commentary team comprises of Sunil Gavaskar, Jeff Dujon, Vivian Richards, Ajay Jadeja, Ian Bishop and Sanjay Manjrekar.
The Indian team is currently training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bangalore under the new coach Anil Kumble.
Kumble has piped former Indian team director Ravi Shastri. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprised of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS, Laxman.
The Indian team will visit the West Indies after the 2011 tour when India defeated West Indies by 1-0 margin.
The BCCI selectors have selected a few new faces like budding bowler Shardul Thakur.
India was without a coach for one year. Ravi Shastri, who was appointed as team director in August 2014, was handed the job to manage the team. Under him, India played well. In the 2015 World Cup India finished the tournament with semifinal defeat and won the Asia Cup T20. In the WT20 India have again failed to qualify for the final.
However, Shastri was the top contender for the post, but Kumble’s last minute entry spoiled his dream to be full-time Indian coach.
Moreover, Shastri was in Bangkok and came to give the interview online. Ganguly has left the panel before Shastri came online.
As Shastri failed to become the Indian coach he said Ganguly disrespected him as he was not present during Shastri’s interview.
Shastri also said he now knew everything of Indian cricket.
