4) Y VENUGOPAL RAO

The Forgotten Heroes Of Indian Cricket 1

This member of under-19 world cup winning squad of 2002 got his first opportunity in the Indian team in the year 2005 in the Indian oil cup. In the very first match of the series, Rao scored 38, the second-highest of the innings. His next important innings was against Pakistan where he scored the highest of 61 in that innings. It is his highest individual score as well. But his most astonishing feat was of an unbeaten 228 for South Zone against an in-form England-A team to help South Zone chase down 500 and win.

He was picked up in the IPL by the Hyderabad team Deccan Chargers (later known as Sunrisers Hyderabad) and played well for them with bat and ball as well. The player currently plays domestic cricket for Gujarat.
