This left-handed batsman made his debut in the Indian squad in the year 2001 against Australia. He failed to perform as he used to in the Punjab team but shown soon in the series-deciding match against Zimbabwe by scoring 159 not out. He carried on with the form by scoring 74 in the 1st match between India and West Indies in the next series.

He kept on playing regularly for India and was eventually selected in the playing eleven of 2003 ICC World Cup. His personal best in the World cup has been his 42 made against the Netherlands. His last ODI appearance was that against Bangladesh in the year 2007. The player moved on to make a debut in Bollywood and will soon be seen on the silver screen.
