Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi hailed the England pacer Stuart Broad as the legend of the game and said that he can only dream of taking 600 plus wickets in the longer format of the game and expressed his love for test cricket.

England pacer Stuart Broad retired from professional cricket after the 2023 Ashes series and he finished his long red-ball career with 604 Test scalps in 167 matches inspiring young bowlers around the world to play the test cricket and is currently part of the Skysports team in the Hundred tournament.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Shaheen Shah Afridi lauded Stuart Broad for his successful career in red-ball cricket and said that he can only dream of picking up as many wickets as the England legend in Tet cricket and added that the test cricket helps him to be at his full fitness and was happy with the attacking brand of cricket Pakistan played against Sri Lanka in two-match series.

“I saw Broady the other day and for me, Test cricket is the best. What a legend he is. I can only dream of taking 600 plus Test wickets. Test cricket helps me so much with my fitness and makes bowling in shorter formats so much easier. Watching the Ashes was great fun and you can see with how Pakistan played in Sri Lanka, that we are trying to be more attacking,” Shaheen Shah Afridi said.

The Pakistan pacer has been prone to injury, which kept him out of the actions for a considerable amount of time after the completion of the 2022 T20 World Cup but made a comeback into the Pakistan side and has been playing his trade in the T20 leagues at recent times.

Shaheen Shah Afridi is elated to play in The Hundred as he wants to try and pick up wickets on every delivery and reckons that the in this format of the game wickets are so important which can tilt the match in the favour of the bowling side and revealed that he always wants to come in and bowl with full heart to provide a breakthrough for the team he plays.

“It’s my first time playing this format but because you’re only allowed 20 balls, every delivery feels huge. I’m trying to get a wicket every ball. Our job is to bowl fast and take wickets. In competitions like this, the best thing you can do is take wickets, especially if a batter is set and finding the boundary”.

“There is no secret at all. I just run in and bowl with all my heart and aim for the breakthrough for my team. I love bowling fast and taking wickets. I won’t get bored of it,” Shaheen Shah Afridi added.

The 23-year-old has made a name for himself with his brilliant performances for Pakistan at the international level in all three formats of the game and he can get the ball to move either way at a high pace as he has done well in the T20 Cricket in the globe leagues and will look to continue his fine form going into the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
