England has registered a famous Ashes series win by 2-1 after 18 years in 2005 when middle-order batsman Kevin Pietersen blasted Australian bowlers in his 158-run mark which further led to a draw of the fifth Test at the Oval.

After former leg-spinner, Shane Warne dropped the right-handed Pietersen at the first slip on the final day when the South Africa-born was batting on just 15, launched an assault against a most fearsome bowler of his days in an international career.

After Andrew Strauss’ century (129 off 210) helps his side to post 373 in the first innings, it was all about Pietersen in the second innings, as his knock included 15 boundaries and seven sixes.

England players took a leap of celebration, as the crowd stood to their feet soon after on-field umpires Billy Bowden and Rudi Koertzen dislodged the bails and uprooted the stumps, to confirm the hosts regaining the coveted trophy when Australia was 4 for no loss in 0.4 overs.
