Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s name started trending soon after star footballer Lionel Messi announcced his retirement form international football.

The twitteratti started trolling the all-rounder and started asking him when will he finally hang up his boots.

Earlier, following Argentina’s loss to Chile in the Copa America final, Lionel Messi was visibly devastated. Not long after the tournament’s closing ceremonies, Messi announced that he would no longer play for the national team.

The saga of Shahid Afridi’s retirement, like many things that define Pakistan cricket, just keeps on getting longer. The all-rounder may have been pushed to international retirement by his Board midway through the World Twenty20, but the skipper is still not done and is still harboring hopes of making a comeback in the national T20 side.

After a disastrous World T20, where they won just one game, Afridi was forced to resign from the post of captain. However, he later expressed his desire to represent the country again in the shortest format.

“I would also like to inform that InshaAllah I intend to continue to play the game for my country and league cricket, and request my fans to kindly keep praying and supporting me for my best future performances for Pakistan (as a player); and in all other arenas of the game, world over,” Afridi had said.
