Super Max

This unique experiment invented in New Zeeland can be regarded as the Precursor to T20 cricket. Super Max International Cricket had interesting rules like:

  1. Both teams had to play 2 innings of 10 overs each.
  2. There were 2 runs for a Wide in the format instead of one
  3. If a shot hit the Max Zone the score would be doubled.
  4. In the first version, it included usage of 4 stumps instead of 3.

Back in 2002, India played New Zealand in this format and lost by 13 runs.

45 Overs split

In 2010, Cricket Australia came up with a unique idea of having 45 overs limited-overs competition. According to the format, the innings was split in 20 and 25 overs. The maximum number of overs permitted for a bowler was 12 overs. However the players were not at all in favour of this format and eventually after some domestic games, this got discarded.
