Bowl Out

The bowl out was used as a tie-breaker for the first time in a match between New Zealand and West Indies in February 2006. Each team got 5 attempts to hit the unprotected wicket. New Zealand had won the first bowl-out. Interestingly, during the 2007 World Twenty20, India won 3-0 in the bowl-out against Pakistan in Durban. However, this tie-breaker ultimately proved to be not so popular and in 2008, the format was replaced by Super Over.

Indian Cricket League

The most unsuccessful experiments in the history of Cricket 1

ICL was a private cricket league brainchild of Zee Entertainment Enterprises. The T20 competition took place from 2007 to 2009. The ICL actually lacked BCCI’s support which finally led to shutting down the so-called rebel tournament. However, it was a major talking point during that period. ICL will be best remembered for introducing this format to India much before the IPL.
