The Quality Has Not Been That Good For Long Time Because India Kept Winning One-Sided – Sourav Ganguly On Indo-Pak Matches In World Cup

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly believes that the India-Pakistan games haven’t lived up to the expectations as India has dominated the Pakistan team over the years barring their only loss against Men in Green in the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai, feels that the India-Australia games are a great spectacle for the audience in the mega event.

The two giants of Asian cricket are set to clash in the ODI formats in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup later this year in India. The clash between the two heavyweights is regarded as one of the most important sporting events in the world.

With the hype around the World Cup slowly emerging, speaking on Star Sports, Sourav Ganguly rues the lack of good games between India and Pakistan as the games are mostly a one-sided encounter, as Pakistan registered their first win over India in the 2021 World Cup and believes that India- Australia offers better quality for the fans.

“There is a lot of hype in this match but the quality has not been that good for a long time because India kept on winning one-sided. Pakistan probably defeated India for the first time in the T20 World Cup in Dubai. 
“India did not play well in that tournament but according to me, India vs Australia tends to be a better game in the World Cup because the quality is better,” Sourav Ganguly said.
The rivalry between the two neighbouring nations has come a long way as it carries a lot of emotions on and off the field between the citizens of both countries. India and Pakistan play against each other only in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup following the suspension of bilateral ties.

Sourav Ganguly feels that the Pakistan team has good team do well in the ODI World Cup later this year, as they use the subcontinental conditions to their advantage and said that the fast bowlers will a vital role in their campaign in the mega event and added that the conditions will be a massive factor for India’s clash against Pakistan.

“This Pakistan team is also good and the match will be good. Pakistan becomes a good team on flat wickets because their batters use those conditions well. They have fast bowlers who use the conditions.

“Wherever there is seam or swing, because their quality of batting has been good in the past, I can’t say what will happen going forward, India always used to march ahead. It will always be a big game. The conditions will also be important,” Sourav Ganguly concluded.

Pakistan will take on India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15. The match is expected to be high octane clash, as the buzz around the game has already raised since the announcement ICC World Cup Schedule
