Maratha Arabians, Pakhtoon, Punjab Legends, Kerala Kings, Bengal Tigers and Team Sri Lanka Cricket are the six teams that will lock horns against each other and will fight for the ultimate glory.
The Arabians gave an immediate boost to their batting line up when they chose former Indian and destructive opener Virender Sehwag as their icon player. The team was further strengthened by Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir who became the first player to be picked up in the draft held on November 6.
ICC Champions Trophy winning captain Sarfraz Ahmed has been named the icon player for the Lions and it can be assumed that the team is in safe hands. As far as the Kings are concerned, stylish English left-hander and limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan will act as the icon of the team.
Pakistani cricketing heavyweights Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik will represent the Pakhtoons and the Legends respectively. Sri Lankan batsman Dinesh Chandimal who is an experienced customer on the field will lead the Sri Lanka Cricket team which will comprise of players who won the domestic limited overs tournament. However, if Chandimal makes it to the Sri Lankan One Day International squad for the three ODI’s against India, the 27 year old will have to skip the T10 League.
The Arabians certainly look as the side to beat ahead of the tournament with the addition of Kumar Sangakkara who conquered the domestic circuit in England after hanging up his boots from an extra-ordinary international career. The team also has the likes of Imad Wasim, Alex Hales, Lendl Simmons, Mohammad Sami and Kamran Akmal.
Darren Sammy will represent the Tigers along with fellow Windies players in the name of Sunil Narine, Rovman Powell, Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles. The Legends opted for a brutal bowling line up which is certain to be a nightmare for the other teams. Umar Akmal, Mishab ul Haq, Carlos Brathwaite, Hasan Ali, Adil Rashid and Rangana Herath were all grabbed by the Legends to make their bowling attack their primary force of attack.
