There Won’t Be Much Challenge In Champions Trophy: Sabbir Rahman 1

The Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman, ahead of flying to Sussex for the 10 days camp before Champions Trophy, has said that there won’t be many challenges in the upcoming ICC tournament,

“There won’t be much challenge. We will just play match–by-match. We have played good cricket in New Zealand, we have played well in Sri Lanka. So now we have the experience of beating bigger sides on their turf. I don’t think this time around the conditions will pose much threat to us.”

Sabbir’s comments have come after team’s recent success in New Zealand and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka especially, the visitors won a Test, ODI and T20I each to not let the home side win even one series.

The win in the Colombo Test was the biggest success for them, as it was their first Test victory over Sri Lanka, which came in their 100th milestone Test.

However, Sabbir also added that each and every game they play is important for him and he takes one match at a time,

“Actually every single match is quite important for me. It doesn’t matter where I am playing, who I am playing for. If I get runs in one match, that makes me confident for the next match as well. Generally, I don’t do anything pre-planned. I like to play on match-by-match, and my approach will remain all the same this time as well. And this is how I am now preparing.

“By playing in the national team for the last couple of years, I have gained some confidence, and now I want them to put into effect. I will look to do as good as possible with all my experience,” he added.

Sabbir Rahman, who made his international debut in the year 2014, has played a total of 35 ODIs, 31 T20Is and six Tests. He had a decent run in his first World Cup held in the year 2015, as in his first ICC tournament, he scored 182 runs at an average of 36.40.

He will be a key for the team in the Champions Trophy where Bangladesh will be participating after a period of 11 years.

Bangladesh will take on England in the first game of Champions Trophy on June 1. Their next game will be against Australia on June 5 with their last group stage match coming against New Zealand on June 9.
