Things Will Move Fast At BCCI Under Supreme Court-Appointed Administrators, Says RM Lodha

Justice (Retired) RM Lodha has insisted that things will move fast in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after January 19 when the Supreme Court appoints a three-member committee of administrators to oversee the business operations of the cricket board.
The cricket board has been in turmoil ever since the apex court removed Anurag Thakur and Ajay Shirke as the BCCI’s president and secretary respectively on January 2 for failing to implement the reforms suggested by the RM Lodha panel.
The verdict on January 2 brought an end to a long-standing deadlock between the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee. The court strictly ordered the officials of the BCCI and state associations who did not meet the eligibility criteria set by the Lodha Committee to step down immediately. According to the committee’s recommendations, an office bearer should be a citizen of India, should not be 70 years or older, should not be a government servant or minister, should not hold office in another sports organisation, should not have held office with the BCCI or state association for more than nine years, should not be insolvent or of unsound mind, and should not have a criminal record.
As a result, majority of the big cricket administrators in the country have resigned from the post leaving the BCCI and state bodies in utter confusion. However, Justice Lodha is confident that everything will get back to normal once the court appoints the committee on 19th of this month.
Speaking on the sidelines of a function at the Cricket Club of on Monday, he said:
“Do your best and then leave it for the others to come. You can’t stick to a job for decades. It’s always the infusion of new blood that actually brings about new thinking and new ideas.”
“Just wait for January 19. As soon as administrators are appointed by the Supreme Court and they take over, things will move fast,” he concluded.
