2010: Second semi-final of season 3 of IPL was played on this date and without any doubt this was CSK‘s season and they continued to prove so. Deccan Chargers were defending champions when they came into this match but MS Dhoni led CSK didn’t care much about that and went into the match. CSK came into bat first and lost their top order with just 30 on board and then came MS Dhoni and S Badrinath who took their team to a respectable total of 142. Likes of Adam Gilchrist, Rohit Sharma, Andrew Symonds were in good form and it seemed to be a easy target but Doug Bollinger changed the game around by picking up 4 wickets in 4 over’s and giving away only 13 runs. CSK won the match by 38 runs.
2011: Gayle Storm struck again. KKR playing against RCB set a target of 172, thanks to some big hitting by Yusuf Pathan. But KKR’s bowling stood no chance when Chris Gayle got going. Gayle scored a mighty 102 in just 55 balls, helping RCB reach the target in just 18.1 overs.
2011: The same very day, when we experienced some big hitting in the evening, it was the turn of Turbanator to do the talking in the evening match. MI playing against CSK, set a target of 165 as Rohit Sharma scored 87. But when CSK came into bat, except Badrinath no one could play Harbhajan Singh and he managed to pick 5 wickets in 4 over’s by giving away just 18 runs. MI won the match by 8 runs.
2013: Scoring a century in 20 over’s just got easy after IPL began and still teams don’t end up winning the match. RR playing against CSK set a target of 186 for CSK. Shane Watson top scored by scoring 101 off 61 balls but his country mate Michael Hussey came back hard and scored 88 off 51 balls and led CSK to victory with just one ball to spare.
It will be interesting to see if this year’s match between KXIP and SRH can make it to the history books.
