Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar backs underfiring Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to come good in the forthcoming ODI World Cup on the home soil. The form of the left-handed all-rounder is a cause of concern for the Men in Blue heading into the marquee event because he has recently struggled to have a meaningful impact with both bat and ball.
Ravindra Jadeja would look to improve his batting number lower down the order in the upcoming World Cup. He has been an integral part of India since his debut for India and his all-around ability gives balance to the India team. His last fifty at home was in 2013 and has scored only 189 runs from 12 innings for the team since his comeback from the injury.
In Response to the question by Hindustan Times, Sunil Gavaskar feels that Ravindra Jadeja’s form is not a worrying factor for the Men in Blue heading into the World Cup and thinks Jadeja can be a key player for the team in the middle overs and will perform well for India in the upcoming marquee event.

“Not really. With the kind of experience that he has, it’s not a worry. The important thing is that he is such a fast runner between the wickets. Often, we overlook it… the fact that from the non-striker end, he helps the batter covert ones into twos.
“So, I think those are the little things that are important. So yeah, I am not worried after Ravindra Jadeja at all. He is a top player, a wonderful player… rockstar, like Shane Warne once said,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
He has only scored 448 runs in 21 ODI innings since 2020. Sadly, in those innings for India, he has struck at a dismal rate of 77.37. The veteran has scored only two half-centuries on the home soil and his last half-century came in 2013 and the left-handed all-rounder would look to turn things around with the bat in the forthcoming mega event.
When bowling, the left-arm spinner can be quite lethal, especially on sub-continental grounds that favour spinners. Ravindra Jadeja has been a key member of the Indian team for several years, and his ability to provide balance in the starting 11 has enabled the side to win several important games in recent years.
