The right-handed batsman was called into the ODI squad when Dhawan was ruled out of West Indies series and he leads the race to replace him once again. Agarwal, an uncapped in white-ball cricket, is also a part of India A squad for the compete for series against New Zealand A and will have to miss the fixtures to be part of the national team.
Since he is an experienced campaigner, the team management can call him into the squad at least for ODIs. He is yet to get a T20I call-up so far.
