Ambati Rayudu looked set to play second World Cup of his career and unlike the previous edition, he also held a strong chance of playing every game but the selection committee axed him for three-dimensional Vijay Shankar. A player who had made his ODI debut just four months ahead of the tournament boarded the flight to England while Rayudu considered retirement back home.

Despite not playing a match in World Cup 2015, Rayudu does hold the honour being a member of Team India’s World Cup team that played the semi-final.
