Amit Mishra
The senior leg-spinner was close to being selected in 2011 World Cup squad but was ignored for Piyush Chawla, whose selection did raise eyebrows. With captain’s favourite R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja available, Mishra did not stand a chance to get selected for World Cup 2015. He played his last ODI back in 2016 and was not in the race for a spot in 2019 World Cup.
Mishra did play T20 World Cup 2014 but could not play a 50-over World Cup. He always had to compete for his spot as Mishra was never a captain’s favourite. Ironically, he was adjudged Player of the Match in his last ODI.
