Australia’s Test captain Tim Paine is not worried about the preparation of Australia’s Test players, who are currently playing in the Indian Premier League 2020, for the Test series against India later this year.

Some of Australia’s Test players, including Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, David Warner, Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson, are currently playing the T20 league, Indian Premier League (IPL), 2020. After returning from IPL 2020, they might have to follow a mandatory quarantine period in Australia.

As a result, they will not be able to play their domestic first-class tournament, Sheffield Shield, which will help other Aussie’s Test player to get ready for the Test series against India.

However, Paine dismissed concerns that Australia will be underprepared when heading into the four-match Test series against Virat Kohli’s India. He said that the players will adjust themselves to play the longest format as they have done previously while playing across all the formats.

“I wouldn’t have thought so, with restrictions coming back into the country,” the Tasmania skipper told reporters in Hobart on Tuesday.

“These are guys that have transferred from white-ball to red-ball, from Test cricket to Twenty20 cricket, within a matter of days. It’s never been an issue and we wouldn’t expect it to be,” he added.

Tim Paine, who recovered from a hamstring strain, said he had no plans to reduce his workload behind the stumps. Paine will be leading Tasmania against Queensland in their first Shield match this weekend.

“I feel like the more I do it, the better my body feels,” Paine said.

India will tour Australia to play ODI, T20I and Test series. The schedule, however, has not still confirmed because of the quarantine rules. Western Australia has disagreed to give any relaxation on the quarantine period. Therefore, the players coming from IPL 2020 instead of entering the country from Perth will land in South Australia.
