After the two recent losses in the on-going Tri-series between India, Australia and England, the Indian team has felt the need for an all-rounder who contribute equally with the bat as well as the ball for the team. Having a good all-rounder in the team sets the right balance in any team. But does an all-rounder really make a huge difference to the team? If you do not think so, then the stats below might just change your thought about it:

Paul Collingwood is the only player with a century and a 6 wicket-haul in One day International history. His performance of 112* and 6/31 came against Bangladesh. Collingwood’s performance also broke the 18-year old record being the only player to score a century and take a 5-wicket haul in ODIs. He scored 119 and took 5/41 against New Zealand in the year 1987.
Three Indians namely Sachin, Sourav and Yuvraj are also featured in this list for their brilliant all-round performance against Australia, Sri Lanka and England respectively.
There was a huge debate when the Indian World Cup squad was announced as Yuvraj Singh’s name was not in the list. But after the first two losses India will have to find the right combination without a experienced all-rounder in the form of Yuvraj Singh or else the selectors have to be ready to face a lot of blames for further losses.
