- Ricky Ponting – 242 innings:
Unarguably, Australia’s greatest ever ODI player, Ricky Ponting got to the revered milestone in 242 innings and got it against South Africa in March 2006. Ponting was a beast for the Kangaroos as he was always on the attack and brutal towards the spinners. One must regard the fact that a major chunk of his ODI runs came during his phase as Australia’s skipper. As captain, he always led by example with a strong performance with the bat. If a list was ever made for the top 5 ODI batsmen, Ponting would surely feature there.
