Albie Morkel – 125m:

The biggest hit past the boundary line so far in the history of the IPL has come off the bat of South African all-rounder Albie Morkel. The inaugural season which began with a whirlwind 158 runs knock from Brendon McCullum also was remembered for Albie Morkel’s 125 m six which still remains the longest ever even after 9 seasons. The bowler at the receiving end was left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha tried luring Morkel with a flighted delivery but paid a heavy price instead by inflicting a crunchy hit over the mid-wicket region. The effect of the mighty hit was that the ball was eventually lost!
