1) The Lord’s
The Macca of cricket was named after Sir Thomas Lord. Thomas was a first class cricketer. The ground was built in 1814 and since then it has become a major cricket venue especially when cricket became a leading sport in the early 20th century. Even when international cricket was overtaken by commercial greed, Lord’s is retained as the spiritual home.
The ground is privately owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). It is the home of ECB, from 1909 to 2005, and the ICC.
