Bert Sutcliffe was one of the New Zealand’s earliest greats, who represented them in 42 Test from 1947 to 1965.

The picturesque Lincoln ground was named after Sutcliffe. This ground is known for hosting the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2010. In 2014, it also made its One Day International (ODI) debut with the World Cup Qualifiers being staged in new Zealand. This ground also hosted Sheffield Shield matches. As the ground is surrounded by bush ball very often lost in it and players and umpires run into it in search of the ball.
