6) New Zealand – 315/7 v Sri Lanka

A collective showing from the batting order saw New Zealand put up 315/7 on the scoreboard at Johannesburg. Openers Brandon McCullum (46 from 72 balls) and Jesse Ryder (74 from 58 balls) gave the perfect start by adding 125/ in first 20 overs. The duo departed in back to back over shortly and the Lankan bowler triggered a middle order collapse. The damage, however, was not grave as Martin Guptill (66 from 76 balls) stood firm from one end to keep things table. Tail-enders Daniel Vettori (48 from 44 balls) and James Franklin (28 from 21 balls) also showed some resilience and therefore enabled the Blackcaps end on a high.
