A trio of Owais Shah (98 from 89 deliveries), Paul Collingwood (82 from 94 deliveries) and Eoin Morgan (67 from 34 days) had a field day hammering the Proteas bowlers at the Supersport Park Centurion during the Group B fixtures of the 2009 edition. Andrew Strauss chose to bat first after winning the toss and his men capitalised on the opportunity to use the bouncy deck. After a steady start, Shah and Collingwood added 163 runs for the 3 wickets to take England to a string position. Morgan walked in next after the departure of Shah and pushed the run rate higher with his attacking show and enabled England post 323/8 in 50 overs. The total could have been much bigger had the lower order succeeded in adding some extra runs towards the end of the innings.
