New Zealand vs Australia – ICC World Cup 2015 at Auckland:

Top 10 Memorable ODI Matches in Cricketing History 1

This match might not have gone down to final over, but it had witnessed a defiant approach and masterclass, to say the least.

The pool match between Trans-Tasman arch-rivals New Zealand and Australia had witnessed an epic battle on 28th of February in 2015 at Auckland.

The co-hosts of the World Cup further made it to the final of the twelfth edition of the World Cup.

On that particular day, Australia batted first to pst 151 onboard thanks to Tren Boult’s brilliance with the ball who sealed his figures of five for 27 in 10 overs.

In the run-chase, the Black Caps raced to 78 for one in 7.3 overs with the then skipper Brendon McCullum scoring 24-ball half-century.

However, Pat Cummins got rid of dangerman to see Kiwis need just 73 off 252 deliveries.

Well, in the next over, Mitchell Starc returned to clean bowled, Grant Elliott and Ross Taylor.

Well, Kane Williamson held his nerve to register the 52-run partnership with Corey Anderson. Following Anderson’s dismissal and when Kiwis required 15 runs, Starc alongside Cummins dismissed Daniel Vettori and Luke Ronchi.

Also, when Kiwis required six runs, Starc had accounted for the wickets of Adam Milne and Tim Southee. However, Trent Boult showed some resistance by surviving two deliveries.

Thus, clam and composed Williamson won the game by slamming a maximum on the bowling of Cummins.
