Another Windies Cricketer makes the cut. Larry Gomes, born July 13, 1953, is a former West Indian batsman renowned for being a solid but dignified figure among the more reputed hitters of the 1970s and 1980s.
Perhaps one of the hardest decisions Gomes had to take in his career was whether or not to go on the rebel tour to South Africa. Gomes finally decided against it. Gomes was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1985.
Gomes played 83 ODI matches and scored 1415 runs with one century to his name and picked 41 wickets as well. The dynamic cricketer was part of 63 wins out of those 83 matches from 1976-1987 and he was named Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1985.
