Former Indian skipper and opener Sunil Gavaskar got annoyed and outraged with team India’s recent overseas performances. The cricket stalwart had been recognized for his calm characteristics on the field and off the field too. But team India’s back to back losses in foreign soils made his heart blood-lifting. He got enormously disappointed and thwarted and expressed his frustration in various public assemblies, and he scarcely controls his temperament. He showed his anxiety with sound reasons. He has gained some important and serious analysis of team India’s recent performances and hoped that it will assist them to get improvement from the fall.

He has given many reasons such as openers ‘setback’s, favoritisms in the team, ineffective coaching and many others. He has taken out the trigger on some important stops,

  •   Team India’s defensive approach:

It is quite reliable for Indian team that if they get precedence on first innings, the winning opportunity gets higher. But Men in Blue are approaching a defensive nature, these days and they have failed to show killer blow. They are not willing to drive the game by attacking approaches and that keeps them from outright wins. They lack of exterminator urge. Gavaskar observed after India’s 1-0 Test series lose against South Africa.

  •   Kohli’s diverge after being given out against New Zealand:

Virat Kohli, one of the consistent batsmen of this side failed to score big in the 3rd ODI against the Kiwis. India lost that must-win match. They could not chase 314. But the focus got shifted from India’s lost to Kohi’s inherent instinct to disagreement with the decision of the umpire. Gavaskar said, “Kohli is one of those batsmen who just hate to get out.” But Kohli showed disapproval with umpire Rod Tucker’s decision and his body language made Gavaskar unhappy. He added, “When you are out, you are out.” Later, Kohli admitted that he should not lose his temperament.

  •   India possesses a low chance to defend the World Cup:

The biggest tournament in cricketing history is just a year away. But the Indian squad still doesn’t ready to maintain the title they earned in the last edition, former captain thinks. India has to hike up their bowling power right now in order to impose an immense impact on the World Cup matches. Otherwise it is going to be ‘very, very, very difficult.’ Gavaskar explained after India’s 3-0 lost in Kiwi land.

  •   Indian openers poor performances:

India gave way conquer a Test series against Proteas and that has continued against New Zealand later. The ground behind these batting disasters is Indian openers poor performances, Gavaskar pointed after India’s 87-run loss in the fifth and final ODI against the Kiwis. He believes that India’s batting management is too stubborn to go out of the corner.

  •   The club-culture of the Team:

There are many players who are not in shape right now but getting chances to be in the national team again and once more. It is because of the ‘club-culture’ present in the team. Taking on those non-performers results into the back-to-back loses of the squads. Gavaskar thinks the time has come when the reserved players must put back those players in order to maintain a good squad.

  •   Team India’s poor fielding performance:

India missed four catches on the first day of the Test match against New Zealand in Auckland. Gavaskar thinks it is a communication gap between the players on this side which resulted poor fielding performances. He said, “Team India’s catching effort is not up to the international benchmark.” He considers that India holds the ability to turn around and they should begin fermenting on the improvement right now.

  •   Team India’s dreadful work ethics:

Nothing can replace the habit of practicing well. Luck is important to win any match, along with that hard exercise is likewise called for. India’s ‘optional practice’ session let the team loses by one wicket against Pakistan in Asia Cup, which forced them out from the tournament. The players did not practice well before the match and “there was no excuse for anyone apart from Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli to miss practice,” Gavaskar said.

  •   Favoritism should be eliminated right now:

Ishwar Pandey and Cheteshwar Pujara have been ruled out of the national team and that makes Gavaskar perplexed. He believes that it is intentional, as if they get along well in international matches, their favorite batsmen and bowlers would be tugged away fromthe team. “This is really ridiculous.” Annoyed Gavaskar Said.

  •   Inefficient and powerless Coaching:

Apart from all reasons Gavaskar has pointed out to the main reason. He thinks that it is the ineffectiveness of the national coach Duncan Fletcher which let the team to go through free-fall. Gavaskar thinks that he is not being able to motivate the youngsters in the squad and he receives no impression on them. India calls for someone younger, energetic and aggressive coach who can force them to commit their best on both family and overseas series.

  •   Average support staff:

If a player can be excreted from the national team due to his inefficient performance, why a support staff cannot be! Gavaskar has raised the question in order to show his hold up against Fletcher. He rated him only 1.5 out 10. He thinks that Rahul Dravid can be a far better coach than this Zimbabwe former player.
