Bangladesh made their ODI debut on 31 March 1986, against Pakistan in an Asia Cup match. Before this, football used to be the most popular sport in Bangladesh, but cricket gradually gained it’s popularity – especially in urban areas – and by the late 1990s Cricket see off football to steal much of the country’s attention.
In 1997, after winning the ICC Trophy in Malaysia Bangladesh qualified for its first Cricket World Cup which was held in England in 1999 and since then they have played 312 ODI matches. The Bengal Tigers stand in the tenth spot on the list of teams with most ducks in 50-over format with 308 ducks .
