Rahul Dravid’s 177 at Ahmedabad in 2009
It’s always hard to imagine Test cricket without the great ‘Rahul Dravid.’ The Indian Test cricket master was expert in taking his team across the winning rope. In the 2009 Test series against Sri Lanka, ‘The Wall’ repeated his similar class act by smashing every Lankan bowler. His innings of 177 runs in the first Test at Ahmedabad is still in the minds of his fans. The innings came at a crucial time when India was struggling with 32 for 4 with top order failed dramatically. This terrific knock kept the hosts in a strong position with 426 runs in the first innings.
The match, however, ended in a draw with Sri Lanka posted a huge 707 runs in their first innings. India, on the other hand, put 412 runs on the scorecard for the loss of 4 wickets in their second innings.
