De Villiers put his natural game to rest and produced a magnificent performance against Australia in the 2nd Test of their tour in 2012.

Playing out balls were the order of the day, and Mr 360 did that to perfection. He batted out as many as 220 deliveries for a score of 33 runs.

It is very unlikely de Villiers, but you have applauded him for the fact that he curbed his natural game and didn’t strike a single boundary during his five hours stay at the crease.

He eventually got dismissed by Peter Siddle, as the pacer breached his defence with an impressive delivery.

South Africa eventually managed to save the Test courtesy of some exceptional piece of batting by Faf du Plessis. He was making his Test debut and remained unbeaten on 110 off 376 deliveries was indeed a huge task. It proved too huge innings as far as his career is concerned.
