Former Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble has been appointed as head coach of the Indian national team. From the 57 applicants for the job, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) chose 10 candidates to interview. The interview for the lucrative job happened in Kolkata. With Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman on the interview board they kept the faith in their former trusted teammate Anil Kumble to turn around the fortunes of Indian cricket.
But Kumble has grabbed the job without any real experience of international coaching. So far he all he has done is as a mentor for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in the IPL. But, after those stints, he donned the role of cricket administrator by joining the commentary and ICC Cricket Committee.
