Ruined Australia’s party
Australia was on a 16-Test winning streak when they arrived in India for the series. The Eden Gardens was all set to turn another historic chapter of cricket. This time, history was written in an exceptional manner. Harbhajan Singh’s hat-trick and Laxman’s very very special innings of 281 runs gave India a tremendous victory on their home turf. Australians were traumatizing with this effort from the Indians and their winning streak came to an end. This was Sourav Ganguly’s one of the most famous Test victories as a skipper.
The Prince of Kolkata did not stop here as he, along with his brigade, once again upset Australia in 2003-04 with a draw Test series 1-1. Sourav Ganguly himself made his first Test century against Australia in the series. Also, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar recorded his one of the fine knocks he had ever played with 241 at Sydney. The series was Steve Waugh’s farewell series which was ruined by Sourav Ganguly and his side with their outstanding show.
