The thrilling year of cricket has come to an end. Cricket has got some exciting talents, who not only show their potential but also blossomed into genuine cricketers with a promising future for their countries. With some of the great cricketers bade adieu the game; a bunch of young talent hit the floor with a bang.

Here are the five emerging cricketers of the year

Adil Rashid

Pakistani origin leg spinner is a budding talent in international cricket. He grew up in the minority ethnic community in Yorkshire. He was first burst onto the with a six-wicket haul against Warwickshire on his first-class debut in 2006 at Scarborough.  At boy who built his rapport with Yorkshire county as a young talented leg spinner grabbed the attention when he took eight wickets during the second Test against India.

He made his Test debut for England against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi. He went wicketless in the first innings but, bamboozled Pakistani batsmen in the second innings with a five-wicket haul. England had a chance to win the match but have to satisfy with an draw as evening loomed in the UAE sky.

He made his ODI debut in 2009, but after four unimpressive matches he was dropped. When he comeback in the action after 6 years he took 4 wickets against New Zealand at Edgbaston.

Cricket’s greatest leg-spinner Shane Warne said, Rashid with times will develop into a utility leg spinner.

Joe Burns

A clean and straight hitter of the ball knows his area of strength. He has the patience to play the ball late. He made his debut against India in 2014 boxing day Test. But, he was dropped from the team after two fifties in the first Test of the year 2015 against India. With Chris Rogers was in the rank, Burns did not have a chance to play for Australia. He was ignored from West Indies and England tour. But, as Rogers retired from international cricket, Burns has become an option for slectors. Burns selected for the New Zealand series at home. The left-handed batsman proved his worth. He hits three hundred against New Zealand. The first came in the tour game for Cricket Australia, then he hit 71 and a swashbuckling innings oif 129 off 123 balls in Brisbane Test. He hit another hundred in the Melbourne Test.

His hard-hitting batting style made him an opening partner of the Test team off Australia.

 

 

 

 

Kagiso Rabada

This teenage South African fast bowler rang the bell of his arrival in international cricket in the 2014 U-19 Wolrd Cup in the United Arab Emirates. He sliced through Australia U-19 team in the final as he took 6 wickets conceding just 25 runs in 10 overs. That bowling spell ensured his place in the South African senior team.

He belongs to the tradition of the South African fiery fast bowlers production house. With Dale Steyn has already retired from T20 cricket, and considering retirement from ODI cricket, South Africa got a furious, imaginative bowler, who has lightning speed and variation.

In his debut series in Bangladesh, he has taken six wickets in his first tour match. He has notched up a hat-trick in the debut match.

During South Africa’s T20 and ODI series victory he played an instrumental role. He held his nerve in front of MS Dhoni in the death over in the Rajkot ODI, which South Africa won by 5 wickets. He proved wrong his critics who said Rabada would be a flop show in the flat Indian pitches. 

Legendary Protea fast bowler Allan Donald compared Rabada with late West Indies bowling great Malcolm Marshal as the colt not only resembles Marshal but also can bowl fast with plenty of variations.

Josh Hazlewood

He is a product of Australian age group team. After plenty of impressive performance under the coaching of former bowlers like Craig Mcdermott, he burst onto the national side in December 2014 boxing day Test against India. He has taken a fifer in his first Test bowling spell. He ripped apart India batting line up. After the series, he has become an integral part of the Australian bowling attack. With Mitchell Johnson retired from all form of the game, he has taken six wickets in the historic Day-Night Test in the second innings. He finished the match with a ten-wicket haul.

Hazlewood has been declared emerging player of the year award. 

Mustafizur Rahman

This teenager has become the toast of the year. He has taken 26 wickets in 9 matches with three fifers. Rising from Bangladesh’s Khula Divison, he tormented two top ODI teams-India and South Africa at home. His slow but venomous swing and cutters troubled the best batsmen of the ODI wicket. He is product Bangladesh’s National Cricket Academy, Dhaka, which has become a hub of production house young talented cricketers for Bangladesh. 

In the debut ODI, he destroyed India’s famed batting line-up with a five-wicket haul. In the three-match series, he had become a headache to Indian batsmen. In the next ODI, he took six wickets that helped Bangladesh to win their first ODI series against India.

His swan song in also continues against South Africa and followed by Zimbabwe.

He made his T20 debut against India and Test debut against South Africa. He took four wickets in his debut innings.
