The frequency of Cricket is increasing day by day and with the World Cup tournament edging closer. All the nations are busy in making their final preparations for the World Cup. There has also been plenty of Cricket in 2014 all around the Cricketing Nations.

Some players came up with flying colours this year while some of the senior and most reliable players of various teams failed to come up with all the expectations and as a result of which, failed considerably.

Here is the list of the players who failed to perform in 2014. Rather, this article sums up the Top-5 flops of 2014.

1: Alastair Cook (England):

Things could not have been worse for the English captain this year, who ended up being kicked by the selectors from the ODI team. But , he only has himself to blame one. Cook failed on most occasions witht he bat and when he scored runs, it was just too slow. He was blocking a place of a deserving candidate like Alex Hales or James Taylor and selectors sacked him finally. He scored just 523 runs at an average of just above 27 and his highest score being just 56 during this period.

2: Shane Watson (Australia): The Aussie all-rounder did not have a good time this year. He suffered from injuries and prior to that, he was running out of form. He did not manage to perform well enough in the IPL and he was rested from the Australian squad for quite sometime. When he made his return, he was not significant enough with his performance.

5:Yuvraj Singh (India): The tiger of India is also having a dry patch in cricket. He has not been among the best of his form in this year. But his bravery and his ability to comeback still compel us to think that this brave man will definitely make a bombarding comeback sooner or later. He is also working hard to make his international return.
